Post Date: [10.16.08] - S.O.S (STUDENTS OUT SERVING)
Only 69 days, 14 hours and 26 mins (as i'm writing, not as you're reading) until Christmas, but there's something that's happening about two and a half weeks prior to Christmas that we're pretty excited about.
This year, 14forty is once again, hosting our Christmas outreach to the saginaw community on December 7th at the Saginaw Recreation center. We've heard from students time and time again that serving the community was one of the most meaningful events they'd ever participated in, so needless to say, we're gearing up.
As part of our preperation, Pastor Jeremy has been talking about our SOS teams. For those who don't know, SOS in our context stands for, STUDENTS OUT SERVING and as we near the end of the year, we'll be focusing on ways to become better servants.
If you'd like to get involved with our Christmas outreach, there will be a Volunteer Fair in Hangar B on Sunday November 16th immediately following EMIC's second services.

14forty PureLife teaches our students to pursue lives that are radically different from the culture around them. But let’s face it, PureLife won’t become a reality in your teenager’s life unless it is a reality in YOUR home. We know it’s not easy to run against the tide, but we do know it’s possible. We’ve designed a special session just for parents in which we will hear from a panel of 14forty parents and church leaders who have successfully implemented PureLife principles in their homes. We want to be a resource to you and to answer questions that are relevant to you. All during the month of February, we encourage you submit the questions you’d like to see answered that night.

Post Date: [01.14.08] - Christmas Day Outreach wrap-up
Christmas Kids Day was one of the most inspiring events this youth
ministry has ever been apart of. I've heard people say that it is better
to give than to receive. They're right. Many of the students from
14forty witnessed first hand the power of a painted face, a free hot
dog, or a new bike. I am so thankful for our students and volunteers.
They reached out beyond themselves and put smiles on over 300 little
faces from our community. It was hard work, no doubt. But what would
make us or anybody spend a very long Sunday afternoon doing nothing but
giving, giving, giving? L O V E. "And though I bestow all my goods to
feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not
love, it profits me nothing." I Corinthians 13:3. Without love,
Christmas Kids day is just another Sunday in December. But, with the
love our young people did this with, I truly believe they changed lives.
We have been loved in a big way. We love in a big way.
