2008-03-16 23:45:10 Me Again So it's a been a little while since I last blogged (170 something days... But who's counting?)
I have been thinking about our youth ministry so much over the past few weeks and I have some things in my heart that I am really excited about. I have some really cool direction for our guys ministry, FUEL. Also, there are some things coming your way about discipleship and training that I think you will really get into. But more than all this, I have been thinking and praying about you. You. You. I can't get you, the young men and women of 14forty, off my mind. I have been praying over your future and the impact you are meant to have on this old world. Say it with me, "There is supposed to be a difference!" That is what I see when I look at you guys. I see THE DIFFERENCE. As the world sleeps, you are awake, alert and aware. Some are drunk, you are sober. Some are distracted by the temporary, your eyes are fixed on eternity. The difference is Night and Day. (II Corinthians 4:16-18) If nothing else, pureLIFE has been a study in what is eternal and I think this year more than ever, more people have gripped this message with head, heart and both hands. You are making it real in your life. I love that! I love you! And I love God for what He is doing in all of us individually and as a family. Really, I should say, I love Him for what He has already done and for this Grace Awakening that allows us to see more, know more, understand more, and live more. God is Good. I need to say that again. God is GOOD!
PureLIFE 08 is almost done and I believe I know where we are going from here. Here is a sneak preview... Its time to go from Observing to Serving. I will explain more later.
I look forward to Wednesdays more than ever and I cant wait to see you guys again this week. And I am so happy that these messages are online now. That means that we are not alone out here. I wonder who is listening from the longest distance. Hello, Australia? Are you out there?
Well, I would love to hear back from you about what God is doing in your life. Please feel free to post a comment to this blog. Let me hear your thoughts.
Sarah and I love you guys very much.

Jeremy [Read More...]  [Post Comment] 2007-12-13 17:12:56 I need an oil change
I don’t know how many of you guys reading this are old enough to drive yet but, if you are, and you do, then you don't need me to give you the "car is not a toy" speech. If you have good parents then I am sure you have already heard that one. But there is some responsibility to owning a car. Or, in my case, a big red truck. For example, every 3,000 miles or so I am supposed to get the oil changed. I’m a little bit over that right now. Okay I’m a lot over that but that's not my point. The point is if I want my truck to keep going then I need to do what it takes. Oil, brakes, tires, all the good stuff.
Now here we are driving 110 miles per hour into 2008 but if we want to stay running then we are going to have to do what it takes. We as believers and ministers (yes you are a minister, too) need to stop every "3,000 miles" or so and look under the hood. Is everything in good condition or are you worn out and worn down? If you are, its time to get built back up. One of the best ways I know to do this is to just STOP. Give the brakes a good test. How are they working? Yes, life is busy and Christmas time can be the busiest but we have to have the ability to slow down or stop when we need to.
Here's one you know: Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God. This verse says a couple of things to me. First of all, it’s going to be difficult to spend that much needed time with the Father if we have the pedal slammed to the floor all day every day. But you already know that. And since we are not talking too deep here, let me give you another simple revelation from this scripture. Be still and know that I am God. He is God. Not you. Not me. Him. If we don’t ever stop and let Him fill us back up then we are essentially saying, "I can run this thing on my own. I don’t need check ups. I don’t need tune ups. I am behind the wheel and doing just fine." Of course none of us would EVER say that to God but often times our attitude and actions say it for us. Let me encourage you this Christmas and New Year season to take some time to stop running on empty. Get into the Word of God. Get into the presence of God. Get built up and get filled up. You need it. I need it. We all need it. And I will get my oil changed this weekend. Promise.

Sunday, November 18, 2007. A day to remember. A lot of you guys in FUEL know exactly what I am about to say.
It started off like any other Sunday:
Wake up early for church.
Go to church.
Go to lunch after church.
Come home after lunch after church.
Then, one of the best parts of any Sunday (besides church), the "after lunch, Sunday nap." Well, sometimes its a nap. Other times its more like being knocked unconscious for a few hours.
After nap time I went to meet up with all the boys men from FUEL at Willow Creek Park in Saginaw. But this was not just another Sunday afternoon walk in the park. This was a flag-football Sunday afternoon in the park. Nice. Now, I’m normally not too competitive when it comes to sports but something came over me. I found myself sprinting down field trying to catch up with the long bomb thrown by Pharisee our QB. Well, I didn’t catch it. Sorry to disappoint you. But later I did play some pretty sweet defense and grabbed a nice interception. It was thrown by Danny Cooper who normally would not have thrown such a bad pass but if you look at the replay you will see that he wasn’t wearing his back pack during the game so I think that might have messed him up.
So what’s the point in telling you all of this? The point is... I need to work out. I was so sore for the next two days. My feet, my legs, my back, all of me! Sarah was laughing at me while I limped around the house Monday and Tuesday. She’s so sweet.
But it was totally worth it to hang out with these awesome men of God from our youth ministry. You guys love to have fun and you are truly passionate about God and His plan for your life. "God AND fun?! Those go together?" Uh, yeah. Anyway, I love spending time with the FUEL Fellas and look forward to getting together again soon.
Love you guys,
Jeremy

Sometimes things in life change a little; so little that it takes a while to even notice. Sometimes change is big and you can’t help but notice. I just got married and I’m not sure there is change any bigger than that! Sarah and I were married Saturday, September 1st in Branson, Missouri at Prayer Mountain in the Ozarks. It was beautiful. SHE was beautiful. She IS beautiful. After the wedding we hung out in Mexico for a week and had the time of our lives. Then we came home, “played house” for a couple of weeks, and then got on a plane with our friends Marcus and Sharon and little Lucas John bound for South Africa. Twenty something hours later we landed in Johannesburg. Over the next 18 days we ministered in 7 churches, 11 services, and 1 highschool. It was wonderful. God opened our eyes in so many wonderful ways. We saw things spiritually that we had not seen before. We also saw some of the most beautiful land He ever created. In many ways it was a life changing trip and I was so thrilled to get to stand alongside my beautiful wife from start to finish. She is the greatest spouse, friend, and fellow minister ever. She is my Special Treasure (see Exodus 19:5). My life has changed and change is good.
It’s good to be back home and its great to see the 14forty faithful once again. I am very excited about this series we started last week, “Hearing the Voice of God.” He is going to teach us so much throughout this series and I know it will change your life if you let it. 14forty is growing and we are so excited about it. We ran out of chairs. That is a good problem to have. Keep coming and keep bringing your friends. We are all about to experience BIG change…the kind that everybody notices!
PS
Keep using your faith with us about our new building. Say this every time you think about it: “Our new youth facility is finished, furnished, full and free!” [Read More...]  [Post Comment] 2007-04-17 09:20:54 Pastor Jeremy Test Post Test [Read More...]  [Post Comment]
